Easter 2009

We didn't get to spend much time outside due to the crappy weather we had, but Baby had a great day anyway. She played with Blaine, Avery, Taylor and both sets of Grandparents all day. She got lots of great presents and Mommy scored some candy. I dread the days when I have to share the candy with her!

Playin' Outside

We finally have some nice weather for Riley to play outside. The Baby will do anything to be outside. Rain or shine. She runs up and down the driveway and all over the yard. Mix in a ball or two and you've got a party! She loves to throw the ball and chase after it. We are going to have a lot of fun this summer. Too bad Mommy doesn't love the outside so much. I'd rather be inside getting a pedicure. However, if it makes Baby happy then I'll do it!

April Dinner Club

As usual our monthly dinner clud was a night to remember. Dave and I have such great friends and I truly look forward to our monthly events! This was our April "Who the HELL picked THIS place". We enjoyed an extremely spicy dinner at The Jazz and then some intense games at our friend Eric's condo. The night ended with several entertaining tours of Rock Band.

Survived the fussy spell

I'm happy to report that we survived the fussy few weeks that Riley had. Riley had her first ear infection and it was quite a tough few weeks. She had been extra crabby for about a week and a half and one afternoon Grandma thought she had a fever. I took her temperature that night and it was 103.4! The Baby has never been sick before so I panicked a little. She ran a fever over 103 for 3 whole days. She and I were up all night one night and I had to fight the urge to take her to the emergency room. She was so hot! She handled it pretty well during that part. I was surprised at how she was able to sleep for short periods of time. I couldn't sleep at all. I was a wreck! The next morning she seemed better, but during the day was the worst part. Everything made her mad. Everything! After about a solid week of crabby Baby we finally broke through. The doctor gave us some medicine for the ear infection and that seemed to help pretty quickly. However, that gave her a nasty rash. I couldn't take the stress and worry anymore so we took her to Urgent Care last Saturday. The doctor said it was nothing to worry about and she has been back to her wonderful self since then.
Riley has grown so much over the last month. Her words are becoming more clear and her voice is the sweetest thing I have ever heard! We all play on the floor with the dogs and she laughs so hard....FINALLY! She has never really laughed hard and I can't get enough of it. It's the most addictive thing I have ever encountered! Sometimes I wish this age would last forever.

Mommy loves Riley!

This is what true love looks like!

What's the problem with the Baby?

The Baby has been a handful lately....and that's putting it mildly! She is really starting to show her stubborn side. She has been very fussy for about a week now. Everything makes her mad. When you tell her no she gets so mad. She'll find the closest thing she can lift and throw it on the floor while screaming at it. Most of the time we have to fight laughing at her, but it's starting to not be funny. She has quite the temper and it gets the best of her. If she tries to pick something up or move something and it's too heavy she freaks out! She'll pound on it and scream. I think it might have something to do with the 7 or 8 teeth she has coming right now. She sleeps great through the night so that makes me wonder if it's the teeth or not.
She has also learned how to hit. She hits Mommy and Daddy and gets really upset when we tell her no. She has learned what "nice touches" means and she will gently pet your face when you tell her to do that instead of hit. Dave and I have had to get pretty firm with her when she hits and that's a lot harder than you think it would be. I do NOT like scolding her and Daddy is pretty much worthless at it. He's a pushover when it comes to Riley. I am not the slightest bit surprised by that. Any of you that have seen his behavior with Charlie Brown know that his ability to be firm with his little girls is embarrassing.
Luckily, Riley is still the cutest, smartest (she says bye-bye now!) and sweetest (when she wants to be) baby in the world that we still wouldn't trade any of the harder times. Plus, she has some sweet new dance moves! Let's just say we are really earning our parenting badges right now!

Where's the Baby?

This is Riley's favorite game right now. Here is a short glimpse of her playing with Daddy. Anytime you ask "Where's the Baby/Riley?" she'll cover her face or hide. She thinks it's hilarious and so do we!
